Pianist/composer David Cook is based in New York City. Since moving to the city in September 1999, he has enjoyed collaborations in the jazz scene and beyond, working with a wide variety of talented musicians and recording artists.



In New York, David has performed regularly in bands led by bassist Michael Blanco, saxophonists Arun Luthra and Sean Nowell, bassist Nathan Peck and drummer Sunny Jain, and has also performed with Travis Sullivan’s Bjorkestra and the Alan Ferber Nonet. He has played with a number of world-class vocalists, including Lizz Wright, Natasha Bedingfield, Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson, Utada Hikaru, Marianne Faithfull, Shayna Steele, Chester Gregory, Sarah Tolar and Rosey.

In 2007 David was selected to represent the United States in the American Music Abroad program with the band Exegesis, sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center and the U.S. State Department. The group traveled to Bahrain, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait in February and March 2008, giving performances and clinics to audiences across the region.

Others that David has recorded or performed with include Chris Bergson, Seamus Blake, Dennis Chambers, Matt Clohesy, Quincy Davis, John Ellis, Shane Endsley, Greg Howe, Pete McCann, Donny McCaslin, John O’Gallagher, Ulysses Owens, Marco Panascia, Rich Perry, Bob Reynolds, Scott Robinson, Jon Wikan, Matt Wilson and Victor Wooten, among others. He is looking forward to recording and releasing his first piano trio record later on this year.

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, David currently resides in Brooklyn.
